10 weeks!

Where did the time go? Eva is already 10 weeks and everyday she manages to surprise us even more with how clever she is (you can tell we are her parents, he he).

At the moment she has a stuffed nose and has been coughing a bit, but still feeding and smiling and being her normal self... Nothing to worry about. We are keeping her warm and cosy inside the house with no plans to go out!

Santa Claus has some presents for her, but details will be given in due course, on christmas day... In the meantime, please enjoy some pictures of the little one (and of today's day!) :)

Diez Semanas!

Con amor

9 Weeks!!!

Just to let you know: She LIKES the bath now!!! (It's seems that she is not like uncle Kike!) After so many tries and lots of tears, Eva enjoyed the bath!!! Anyway, I don't have any videos or pictures of the event, but can leave you with some pictures of her at 9 weeks! (some of them feature Eva attempting to get her thumb, fist, or any other lose finger!)

EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=EXTRA=

At 9 weeks, Eva also had her first set of jabs on 16/12/09... It was sore for both of us, and we did cry indeed... She was also checked by the Doctor and the health visitor and overall she is a healthy baby! She also put on some weight (about 100 grams) so now she is 4.820 kg (about 10.7 pounds!) So far there are no reactions to the jabs... The only thing is that she was a bit spoiled earier, but nothing out of the ordinary...
I'll keep an eye on how she does tomorrow...
I took some pictures today to show what she was up to after we came back from the health centre :)

And more :)

Eva has had her first oficial day out! On the 18th December I took her to my work's christmas lunch at the Isle of Skye in Perth and after she joined the group for some drinks at Roca Blue! Behaviour wise: could not be better! She spend most of the time sleeping with some awake spells during which she went round the table on the arms of all my colleagues! Didn't take lots of pictures, but I'll leave some! And even more!!! Just some random pictures and video taken on Monday 21st December 2009!

Hope you enjoy them!

PS: The little one did not have any reaction to the injections!

9 Semanas!

2 Months!!!

Lots of interesting things to celebrate on her 2 months!!!
For a start, she seems to be getting a hang on how to sleep all night! At Gianni and Val's, Eva slept right through the noises from the party on Gio's birthday party! (to be honest, I also slept through the karaoke singing!) She woke up, bright and alert, at 7:00 am. We played for a minute or two and then was the reminder that she was hungry! The following video is her on the crib, laughing and "talking" to the little birds of her mobile (best purchase EVER!!!) The pictures are at Gianni and Val's :)
Hope you enjoy!!!

2 Meses!!!
Esperamos disfruten! Con amor Los Barnes- Ramirez

At 7 Weeks heart-melting smiles!!!

For all those people who already have children, the following comment may appear as a mere trivia, but it is incredible to realise how every second of every day babies learn -and do- something new... It's like if everytime they wake up from a tiny nap, something on their brain has triggered a new skill. Eva is not different to any other child, but being her mother, I have to say SHE IS THE BEST!!! hehe :) Today, 01 December 2009, she is 7 weeks old. She was kind of grumpy all morning. We had a very busy day, going to the Doctors and then going to my work to see my colleagues. Eva slept all the way. When we arrived at the house, she had her boob and bottle and went for a tiny nap... As soon as she woke up (I was on the phone to Auntie Edith) I looked over the pram to see her and she gave me the most beautiful, heart warming, loving, happpy smile EVER!!! And the more I spoke to her, the more she smiled at me! What else can I ask Santa for if this is the beginning of christmas? (maybe a whole night sleep!) At the moment she is sleeping again... I wonder what new surprise will she bring when she wakes up!!! Here are the pics! Hope you enjoy!!! The Barnes

6 weeks!

And eventually we are six weeks old! The well espected time has finally arrived...
Phisically, I can see already a change on Eva. She is bigger and heavier and her face has also changed (she is more beautiful by the second!
We went to my sister's (for some help) on Monday 23rd November and stayed there until Wednesday 25th. At 3 o'clock in the morning on wednesday, Eva smiled at me for the first time!!! I'm sooo proud of my little one!
She was also weighed on wednesday and has put on some weight! Now, at 6 weeks, she is 9 pounds 4 or 4.200 Kg!
Anway: just to make it short and sweet: Eva now send lots of time awake, focusing on things, looking at the mobile and the little figures, staring at the picures in the house and she's being sleeping up to 6 hours at night!
A complete new baby!
I'll leave the pictures!!!
Enjoy!

5 Weeks! 5 Semanas!

So many things to say and so little time... I'll do my best while she sleeps...
5 weeks have passed since Eva was born... I still can not believe that we have survived!!! (For all of you that already have kids, you know what I mean)
Motherhood is a lovely experience, but is also very, very hard... Eva is a fantastic little one and most of the time, I can tell what is happening when she doesn't seem happy and that, my friends, is a relief!
We do have good days and bad ones... Sometimes she will go on crying and sucking for hours on end... Some others she will sleep and sleep and will forget feeding time! Yesterday she did not want to eat very well... She would fall asleep on the boob and on the bottle and all she was taking was about 1 1/2 ounces every feed (I'm combining bottle and breast)... I spoke to a friend that bottle feeds her baby with the same formula and she recommended me to change the size of teats to a size two because the formula is quite thick and it's very hard on the baby to get the milk flowing easily, so I rushed to the shops in a small window-gap of the day when she was fast asleep and couldn;t be bothered about te world (I have to thank Carole for coming with me and saving me from having to take Eva out of the car in the pouring rain!). To finish the story of the teats: SHE ATE ALL OD HER BOTTLE IN HALF THE TIME!!! Last night was a good night! :)
To celebrate her 5th week, Eva has been behaving a bit strange. She is a little bit spoiled today, She cried and cried, and couldn't settle ... She woke up at 6:30 am and was fed about 7 (just to make a bit hungrier) and I tried to get her back to sleep so I could snooze for another hour or so... Those of you who know me, are aware that I'm a bit of a dreamer! The snooze thing: DIDN'T happen!!! Tee hee! So the little one was awake from 6:30 until 12:00 noon... We had nice moments playing at the gym and watching TV (our favourite channel is Baby First!), but not everything was happiness :( From time to time she would be in a really crappy mood and would cry and demand my attention (as if she didn't have it completely already!) until she fell asleep.
The health visitor came in today to check on us, but didn't weighed her today. Instead, we'll be going on thursday to get the veredict (bets are welcome!).
I'll leave some pics of Eva wearing a cozy set of dungarees that she borrowed from her big frien Ollie (Thanks to her lovely mum Aimi!)

Enjoy!

One Month! Un mes!

One month already!!! And what best way to celebrate than getting a BCG injection? On Friday the 13th, Eva received her second injection (the first one was the vitamin K one when she was born!)and, as brave as she is, she only let a tiny cry out! Mum was a different story all together (I cried all the way to Hospital, in hospital, and after hospital!)
Anyway: here some pictures of the little bundle of joy! Hope you enjoy!!!

2 Weeks!

I can't believe that we've managed to survive for a whole two weeks... It's been a time of tears, laughter, scary moments, sleepless nights, but above all things, it's been a time of love, learning and discoveries!
Eva is a little gem. She does what a baby is suppose to do: countless number ones and number twos, cries, sleeps... She is a lovely little one...
She did put on the weight she'd lost in the first 10 days of her life, which had worried us a lot since it was more than the 10% specialist talk about...She was weighed for the first time on thursday 22 October and by Sunday 25 October, she nearly reached the weight she was at birth... Althought my milk suppky does not match her demand (I'm not producing enough milk)I'm still persevering and she's getting boob every 2 1/2 hours during the day and ocassionally is topped up with up to 4 ounces of formula... At night, she manages 4 hours sleep at a time. She is a happy little one and my wee eating machine :)

She is also a very strong baby! I've discovered she "crawls" to the side of her crib and a couple of nights ago, i got the fright of my life when I suddenly woke up in a panic and I found her tiny face was pressed against the bars of the crib! Is amazing how she can bend her knees and roll her legs to one side... The arm and shoulder follow and voilá! She is on her side... Something to watch out for and to keep an extra eye on her..!

It must be the fact hat she is our daughter why I think she is the cleverest little person in the whole world... She already found her fingers to suck when she wants to fall asleep while comfort sucking! Ocassionally I have to use the old trusty dummy so she can get the comfort, otherwise I can spend up to 3 hours with her stuck on my breast just for the extra heat :) (which I don't mind during the day, but it gets too tiring at night, wouldn't you agree?)

Anyway... Today is two weeks since Eva joined our world... It's been a rollercoaster of emotions and changes, but I wouldn't change it for anything! I have to be extra thankful to Frazer for being the best and more supportive husband in the universe... I LOVE YOU, BABY!!!!
And we love you all for caring about us :)
See you soon!
Love
Eva, a very special Daddy, a Mum that loves Daddy, baby and the doggies like nobody else, and the 2 dogs that are still wondering what's the little thing that cries!

One Week of Eva!

Describing being a new mum is not an easy task, but can be resumed in a brief sentence: Hard work... The past week has been full of wonderful feelings: joy, a kind of love that know no boundaries, excitement, happiness... But has also being filled up with fear, exhaustion, tears, desperation and lots of doubts as to "am I doing things right?"... Breastfeeeding has proven to be quite challenging for me. Although Eva latched on from day one on a proper way, I still don't know if she is getting what she needs from me... She seems to be suckling all the time and is tiring...
So far, We have had more than a couple of sleepless nights and I have even had to use a bote of formula and a dummy to help things to be easier... I feel terribly guilty for what I've done, but the good thing is She is still on the breast (and I'm not giving up!).
She is a wonderful and fascinating little one... She spends some time with eyes open, and her silly mummy just stares at her and speak funny voices and silly conversations to her..! What can I say, I'm under a spell!!!
On Saturday night, the umbilical cord came off, thanks God my sister was here to help me out (she stayed with me for the weekend) otherwise I'd probably pass out!
